Kamala beach alania. Kamala Beach in Phuket is a good place for families with children. Description and our detailed review with photos. Kamala beach map in Russian

The coast stretches for almost 3 kilometers. The beach can be roughly divided into 3 areas: south on both sides of the hill, center and north. The southernmost tip of Kamala is not suitable for swimming. At low tide it gets very shallow, and the bottom is bare with stones. Two rivers flow into the sea on the south side, and fishermen moor their long-tailed boats here. Slightly south of Kamala, across the pass, stretched secret beach Hua. It is completely wild, there is almost no infrastructure.

The central part of Kamala starts from the tsunami monument and continues to the north. The sand here is of different sizes, in some places it is very fine, in others it is larger. The entry into the sea is gentle and without stones, which is suitable for swimming with children. At low tide, you need to walk to the depth. The color of the water is not as beautiful as on Surin or, the sea sometimes seems cloudy, although clean. The central part of the beach is lined with casuarines and palms, which provide natural shade. It is here that the main beach infrastructure is located: sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, stands with drinks and water sports... The price for a set of two sun loungers and an umbrella is 200 baht for the whole day. There are places here where you can sit with your mat in the shade of the trees and relax comfortably without fear of getting burned. Paid toilets and showers are provided by nearby restaurants.

The very north of Kamala is quieter than the central part. There are not many people here, you can sit on a mat in the shade of trees, and swimming is just as comfortable as in the center, the ebb is hardly noticeable. A stream flows into the sea, which dries up in the high season and does not bother vacationers.

The south of Kamala beach is not suitable for swimming

Kamala beach hotels

There are not many hotels in Kamala. All of them are located near the sea. In the very south, on the mountain, there are also private villas. The sea around them is not the best: low tides are noticeable, the bottom is with stones, but the hotels provide shuttles to their own beach club with a good sea, and the views from the rooms and restaurants are gorgeous. In the central part of Kamala, you can stay in a three-star hotel, in four only adults from 16 years old and in a children's hotel with entertainment for young guests. In the northern part, right on the beach, is located, and a little to the side - with water slides.

Photo shoots are organized on Kamala

Attractions and entertainment

The coastline is popular with newlyweds from China. In the morning, photographers run around happy married couples and make them pose even in the midday heat. Photo sessions take place closer to the north of the coast, where it is less crowded. There are not so many water sports on Kamala as on and, you can ride a jet ski, fly with a parachute. The bay is suitable for a calm beach holiday, long swims and meeting a charming sunset, sitting on the sand or in one of the restaurants near the beach. There are no problems with drinks and Thai food right on the coast: in the central part every day rows of makings are lined up and cafes are located. On the beach itself there are peddlers selling corn, ice cream and other snacks. There are several massage points right on the beach and salons along the streets.

Beach makers serving cocktails

In the southern part of the beach there is a Buddhist temple - Wat Baan Kamala. On the territory of the shrine, you will find a bell tower, monastic cells, a school and a main building with painted walls and a statue of Buddha. The beauty of the temple cannot be compared with or. Wat Baan Kamala stands out for its rustic charm and tranquil seclusion. If you have time, take a look at this Buddhist temple, just do not forget to cover your shoulders, neckline, knees and stomach. It is customary to take off your shoes when entering the building.

There are many cafes along the beach in the central part

In the evening it is worth visiting the famous. There are many souvenir shops on the streets, you can take pictures in national clothes, see local crafts, a small terrarium and Bengal tigers, ride an elephant. You can visit the park with dinner, which takes place in the golden palace of Kinari. The show is held every day except Thursday in a stone palace with elephants. The village of Fantasi and the show will appeal to children. If you are resting as an adult, you should give preference.

What to do in Kamala?

In the central part of the coast, vacationers are offered water sports: parasailing, banana and aqua scooter. Long-tailed boats moor in the south for trips to the beaches of Phuket. There are no places for snorkeling on Kamala; it is better to go to the islands for fish and corals.

In the low season from May to October, waves appear on Kamala. You can also rent a surfboard or take lessons with an instructor. For lovers of training in the south, in front of the pass, there is a Thai boxing camp, where both group and individual lessons are held.

In the center of the beach, on the embankment near the Tsunami Memorial, there is a small park with a playground and exercise equipment. It will be interesting for kids to ride a roller coaster or swing on a swing. A visit to the playground and the use of exercise equipment are free. From the hill, just north of the Novotel Phuket Kamala hotel, a gorgeous view of the entire beach opens. If you wish, you can climb there along the main road on foot, but be careful: there are no pedestrian paths.

View from the observation deck to Kamala

If you get bored in Kamala, take the city bus to explore Phuket Island. His stop is located near the local post office. The Blue Songthaew travels along the main road from Kamala through Surin and Bangtao to Phuket Town. The bus will take you to the shopping centers Villa Market, and, and. Detailed route information

Restaurants and cafes

There are vendors selling drinks, popcorn, ice cream and other products along Kamala Beach. In the central part of the coast, restaurants and cafes, makashnits and stalls with, and are lined up in a row. Restaurants with European food are concentrated in the streets near the Print Kamala Hotel and the Tsunami Monument. I can recommend the German restaurant Kokosnuss, which offers pasta, schnitzels, sausages, yoghurts, pastries and much more. On the shore with a gorgeous view of the sea, there is a good restaurant Mamma Mia with European, Thai cuisine, etc. Another favorite of mine is the Ohlala restaurant, located on the main road. The menu offers Thai classics, dishes from the north of Thailand, including kao soi soup, papaya salad, and European food.

Beach street with shops and restaurants

For a special occasion, opt for the Plum Restaurant at Cape Sienna. On the open terrace there are ordinary tables and round gazebos surrounded by water. Prices in the restaurant are above average, but the view is simply amazing. The menu includes Mediterranean, European and Thai seafood cuisine. And if you feel like grabbing a cup of delicious Thai coffee, head to Doi Chang Coffee. You will find detailed information about Kamala restaurants.

Night life

Kamala cannot boast of active evening entertainment. Several bars are located on the streets of the central part of the beach and along the main road. Perhaps the most famous are Kamala Beer Garden and the sports Aussie Pub. Closer to the north, you will find two beach clubs - the Phuket branch of the famous Café Del Mar in Ibiza and the HQ Beach Lounge. During the day, the beach clubs play nice music, suitable for lunch, and towards the night there are parties.

Desperate party-goers should go, take a walk, look into bars, where, come off at a disco. Some hotels offer shuttle buses to Bangla Street or Jangceylon Shopping Center. will cost 300-400 baht per car one way. The ride takes only 10-15 minutes.

Markets and shops on Kamala Beach

The Kamala area cannot be called a paradise for shopaholics, but everything you need is there: exchange offices, markets, convenience stores and a supermarket. scattered all over the beach, both on the promenade, near the Tsunami Monument, and several on the main road. There are two markets on Kamala: opposite on Fridays and at the pass to Patong on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Big Sea Shopping Center

Groceries, ready meals, household chemicals, cosmetics and more can be bought at Big C Supermarket on the main road, Tesco Lotus Express or Superchip. Souvenirs and beach items can be found in shops along the waterfront and in the surrounding streets. Do not forget about: peddlers with elephants, tunics, bedspreads walk along the beach. Be sure to bargain with them.

Kamala beach map in Russian

All the above-described attractions, hotels, cafes, restaurants, markets, entertainment and shops, I indicated on the map below. You can download it to your phone.

This resort region occupies a special place. The former Muslim fishing village is suddenly in high demand among tourists. And all because on a crowded island it was Kamala beach (Phuket) that turned out to be the most suitable for a relaxing holiday, as if somewhere on Koh Samui or Ko Phangan. It especially attracts travelers who did not come for the sake of nightlife and dubious pleasures a la Pattaya. It is located in the western part of the island, north of the bustling Patong. There are not so many luxurious hotels here, mostly “triplets” and “fours”. But let's talk about everything in order.

How to get to Kamala

Arriving in Phuket by international plane or you transfer to a taxi or minibus. The latter will cost half the price - about four hundred baht. It is even cheaper to get to the capital of the island by bus, and from there take another flight to Kamala beach. Phuket Town is a good transport hub, connected to almost every corner of the island. The only problem is that buses run quite rarely, about once an hour. They are blue and travel through Kamala and Surin to Bang Tao. The distance between the airport and Phuket Town is approximately the same - about twenty kilometers.

Why do they go to Kamala beach?

Phuket is so popular with tourists that finding a cozy spot where locals not too spoiled by vacationers, and prices are not that high, quite difficult. But it is here that all these bonuses are combined, and there is practically not a single minus. Therefore, people who stop for a long rest - at least three to four weeks - tend to come here. And if during the season the south of this resort can be filled with people - due to the influx of people who wish from Patong - then its northern part is still a reserved corner. Although the resort infrastructure is not very developed, most hotels have everything you need. It is also a paradise for divers. After all, Kamala Beach (Phuket) boasts beautiful coral reefs located not very far from the coast.

Sea rest

It is good to swim and sunbathe in Kamala. The beach is quite long - it stretches for one and a half to two kilometers along a very picturesque bay covered with palm trees, so there is enough space for everyone. and small. The descent into the water is gentle, but the waves are not very strong. Sun loungers and sun loungers are expensive. They are mainly concentrated in the south and in the center of the resort. There they cost about two hundred baht a day. There is a developed tourist infrastructure, many water activities and massage parlors right on the shore. A little further you can go to any beach bar, order something - and lie on their inventory as long as you want. But already in the very north you will have to make do with your own or hotel beach towels. But there are almost no people here, and the water is very clean and transparent. This is because in the north of Kamala beach there are almost no different skis, bananas and scooters. But do not forget that during the rainy season it is dangerous to swim here, because very strong underwater currents begin.

What else to do here

Firstly, this resort has the famous Phuket theme park "Fantasea", where people come from all over the island. There are grandiose performances where not only hundreds of people, but also animals take part. There is also a wonderful restaurant Golden Kinnaria. Its amazing buffet is legendary. To get there, you need to buy an entrance ticket to the park and pay extra for a visit. Secondly, one of the most fashionable entertainment in Kamala is a parachute flight to view the resort from above. And if you do not dare to do this, then you can climb to the top of the Khao Phonthurat hill. There is an excellent observation deck from where you can see the entire Kamala beach, which you can do from there, are amazing. After all, the resort is covered with tropical forests climbing the rocks.

Where to eat

Even if there are no such grand shopping centers with food courts like in Patong, their absence is more than compensated by various stalls with delicious and fresh Thai food. In addition, the main street of the resort is replete with restaurants and cafes, where you can eat for a lot of money or not. And on the beach itself, there are a lot of pockeys and other hawkers. French and Italian cuisine is very popular in Kamala, so if you have the means and want to eat with a real chef, visit places such as La Carbonara, Basilico and White Orchid. Delicious especially seafood, prepared in the establishments "Rockfish", "Sweet Dreams" and "Ponds".

What and where to buy

As already mentioned, there are no large shopping centers, but there are small shops everywhere. Tourists buy everything they need for rest here - mattresses, towels, mats, slippers, swimwear and more. Souvenirs, simple clothes and shoes are also sold at affordable prices. Since the beach "Kamala" (Phuket) - reviews confirm this - is a Muslim part of Thailand, the main market here is open on Fridays. Come and you will not regret it. You will not find so many different delicacies, including dried exotic fruits, as well as branded items at ridiculous prices.

What to see

In the south of the resort there is a rather interesting Buddhist temple with beautiful modern paintings illustrating the life of Gautama. A cozy park with a memorial to the victims of the 2004 tsunami is located nearby. It is known that the village of Kamala was razed to the ground by this terrible disaster, and then completely rebuilt. In addition to the Fantazea Park, where a theatrical and circus performance of the ancient prince Kamala with dances, various special effects and a demonstration of ancient Thai magic unfolds, you can visit other shows that take place in the Palace of the Elephants. And on Fridays, the most famous bar in the area, Skila, organizes a disco with professional DJs.

Resort hotels

Hotels on Kamala Beach (Phuket) are mainly located along Beach Road. Unlike most of the island's resorts, there is no road between the local hotels and the sea, so here you can find hotels on the first line from the sea. Of the luxurious five-star palaces, the most popular are Ayyara Resort, Cape Sienna Hotel and Villas and Naka Phuket. Ayara Kamala is located on a hill, quite far from the beach, but its rooms offer beautiful views, and a free shuttle bus takes you to the sea.

But "Cape Sienna", on the contrary, is located on the ocean coast. Therefore, all of its rooms and villas (some have not only their own kitchens and private pools, but even wine cellars) - overlooking the sea.

Fours are usually located across the street from the beach. The best of them are Aquamarine and Swissotel. The latter is interesting in that it is located not too far from the Phuket Jangseylon shopping center, and besides, it has its own mini-water park.

Hotels on the Kamala beach (Phuket, 1st line) are also three-star. There are not many of them, they are unpretentious, but very functional. An example is Kamala Beach Inn. There are many cheap guesthouses and apartments in the resort, such as Tara Hotel, Baan Hostel and so on.

Thailand, Kamala beach (Phuket): reviews

This corner of the island is very popular with couples, lovers and young people looking for solitude. The beach is more loved by the French, Germans and other Europeans, there are not very many Russians here. But those who have visited this region call Kamala the best place in Phuket. Few tourists, clear water, white clean sand, and there is everything you need. There is a lot of shade from the palms that grow everywhere. There are even semi-wild beaches where you can hardly meet people. Besides, it doesn’t get boring here. The people are mostly decent. Reviews about hotels in Phuket (Kamala Beach) are very positive. Staying in five-star hotels is called an elite vacation, complete relaxation and luxury-style pastime. But there are also excellent responses about cheaper hotels, especially about the ratio of price, quality and services. Some hotels have a good view of the sea, while others have all the conditions for a romantic vacation or rest with children. Come!

Kamala Beach ( Kamala Beach) — best beach in Phuket in our opinion. Our preferences do not always coincide, but we both liked Kamala at first sight. Kamala has a calm sea, pleasant sand, few tourists and all the necessary infrastructure. We were lucky to live on Kamala for a whole month, and the beach did not manage to get bored during this time.

Kamala Beach, Phuket

Kamala Beach: description and impressions

What a beauty! - the first thoughts that come to mind when approaching the beach. And what a blue water here! No waves, you can swim! We take off the flip flops - the sand is so soft and fine, as if you are stepping on fluff. And there are so few tourists! I have been on the beach for 10 minutes and have not yet heard a single Russian word .. Is this exactly Phuket ??

Kamala beach. Phuket

Kamala is a great place to stay in Phuket

The water is clean, though not always crystal clear. For a month I have never touched any garbage in the water. There are usually no waves at all or they are very small, only on some days there are medium waves on which you can jump. Sometimes a bite is felt in the water - a feature of all Phuket beaches. We still did not understand who bites, small plankton or tiny jellyfish.

Entry into the water is pleasant and smooth, the bottom is sandy without stones and shells. I would even say that the approach and the bottom are just perfect here. Up to a depth of "neck" of 30-40 meters. There are specially fenced safe areas for swimming, where lifeguards are on duty and boats do not swim. But at low tide, the water leaves and bathing is complicated by the fact that it becomes very shallow.

Waves in Kamala

Few Russian tourists

There are few tourists in Kamala when compared with the most famous beaches - Kata, Karon and Patong. The resort is not very popular among Russian-speaking vacationers. When we arrived here, I heard Russian speech only on the third day. And I thought that Phuket is the second Pattaya in terms of the number of compatriots. Basically, Europeans, Germans and British, and the Chinese, of course, rest here. An American accent is also sometimes heard.

At the end of November, with the onset of the high season, more Russians appeared. Now on the beach, nationalities are mixed in approximately the same proportions. However, according to my observations, the Russians on this beach are not some kind of cattle, but rather decent people. There was no such thing as someone swearing at the whole beach, sorting out the relationship or staggering drunk. It's not a shame for the homeland on this beach

How to sunbathe? Sunbed with umbrellas and shade from palm trees

There are sun loungers in Phuket now. An umbrella is placed between them. The amenities are not free. Prices are like 200 baht for 2 sun loungers and an umbrella. If the price has changed, write in the comments.

These are the homemade sun loungers

If you don't want to pay for a sun lounger, then you can always stay anywhere on the beach on your towel. There will be shade under the palms until about noon, so umbrellas are not particularly needed. The main thing is not to lie under a palm tree with coconuts. Most of the palms are cut, but for some reason some palms are not touched.

Relaxing in the shade of palm trees

Fun on the beach

From entertainment offered jet skis, banana and parachute flights. 30 minutes on a scooter costs 1,500 baht. They didn’t know about the banana and the parachute, but I think the flight costs no less. There are also several massage points in the middle of the beach.

Cafes and restaurants

There are several beach cafes right on the sand that are open from 10 am until late at night. In the middle part there are several bars and cheap street cafes "for locals", where tourists mostly eat. Prices do not differ much from ordinary Thai cafes, well, maybe a little more expensive, because on the first line.

Beach cafes

Cheap Thai cafes

Near Thai cafes, there are always several makings, in which we often took pancakes with a banana for 40 baht. It is slightly more expensive than on the main road, where the same pancake costs 30 baht. By the way, in these cafes you can eat with your drinks. I don't know about booze, but we used to bring our own soda from 7-Eleven.

Many merchants

Traders are unobtrusive, just say know or ignore. But they can quickly get bored with the fact that 5 times a day they come up to you with their elephants, scarves and fake watches.

Where can I book a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online, paid with a card. We were greeted at the airport with a sign with our name. Drove to the hotel in a comfortable car. We have already talked about their experience in this article

The process of hilling tourists

Deserted beach

In the far right corner of Kamala near the mountain is the famous Novotel... Between the central beach and the Novotel beach there is a deserted semi-wild area. Here you can sit down so that not a single tourist will be within a radius of 100 meters from you.

Unpopulated part of Kamala

Do you still consider Kata Beach to be the best in Phuket? Read on. V in the area of the wild beach there is such a paradise meadow:

The best of the exotic

Novotel Hotel Beach

After passing the wild beach, we find ourselves on the beach of the Novotel hotel. This is a small corner lagoon, so there is always a calm sea. Casuarin trees grow on the shore, which provide shade and exude a pleasant pine scent. Great place for swimming with children. But we didn't really like to swim here, as it is very shallow.

Every day there are low tides, sometimes quite strong ones. It is somehow unpleasant for me to swim at low tide. Usually around 10-12 in the morning there is always high tide, and low tide begins closer to lunch. By evening, the water arrives again. Sometimes the tide happens early in the morning. I remotely determined whether the tide was ebb or flow now, by the level of water in the stinking river that flows into the sea. At high tide, the rivers fill up, and dry up at low tide.

Low tide. Photo in the left uncoupled part of the beach

Stinky rivers

Like all beaches in Phuket, Kamala has one unpleasant feature - 3 stinky rivers flow into the sea. You don’t think about it while bathing, and it’s not noticeable that any impurities floated in the water or unpleasant odors soared. Maybe the current carries it away from the beach. But each time, passing by such a river, you try once again not to inhale its acrid fetid aroma.

Stinky River at High Tide

By the way, in this temple, which is in the photo above, we recently celebrated Great Thai.

The left corner of the beach, where one of the rivers flows into, is used for boat parking

Sunsets

I would like to end the article with something more positive than a description of smelly rivers. Kamala has great sunsets. To enjoy the sunset as much as possible, I advise you to go towards Novotel, because in the central part of the beach the sunset will be blocked by a mountain.

Kamala Map

Useful points are marked on the following diagram: swimming spots, 7-elevens, only toilet (10 baht), cafes, and mini markets with beach accessories and souvenirs:

How to get to Kamala

By public transport, in principle, you can get there cheaper, but it will take longer, since you first have to go by minibus across the entire island to Phuket Town (100 baht), and then change to the Kamal bus (40 baht). Total 140 baht per person. If you are well oriented in Phuket, you can take a shortcut, get off right after the Heroes Monument, cross the road and catch a bus to Kamala. But keep in mind that buses run only until 17-18 hours. - is no longer relevant! Now in Phuket it goes, on which you can get to Kamala for 150 baht per person.

From other beaches: if you have your own transport, it will not be difficult to get there. Just follow the directions north of Phuket along the coast. From Patong, drive about 15 minutes. From Karon and Kata drive through Patong.

If there is no bike or car, then you can take Smart Bus. Or by bus with a transfer through Phuket town. You reach the final (bus station Market) - at the beginning of the street there will be buses to Kamala. As a rule, they are always written in English Bangtao - Surin - Kamala. Travel time is about 1 hour or more, as there may be traffic jams. The fare is 40 baht. These buses look something like this:

You can also take a taxi. A taxi from Patong costs 400 baht. But, you can bargain with taxi drivers. We once went for 300, another time for 350 ($ 10).

These photos were taken from a small area, which can be found if you follow from Kamala beach towards Surin (well, or vice versa, from Surin to Kamala), not far from Kamala, not reaching Laem Sing beach, there will be a small natural area from which this splendid view of the entire Kamala beach.

Kamala Beach is a stunning beach in every way!

For us, Kamala Beach has become a source of harmony, natural beauty and a relaxing atmosphere.

First of all, it is very beautiful, it immediately catches your eye as soon as you come to the beach. Here, tall palms, lined up in a row along the perimeter of the beach strip, are so harmoniously combined with sea water of a delicate blue-turquoise color and soft white sand, which, in the rays of the sun, shimmers and plays in different shades, from snow-white to light beige and even gray -yellow.

And here are the happy newlyweds

Secondly, Kamala beach is not crowded and calm. In addition, there is no carriageway right behind the beach, which gives additional silence. All this contributes to a calm, measured and relaxed rest.

Length coastline Kamala Beach is almost 2 kilometers long, which is not small, and the beach is about 20-30 meters wide, not much, but these meters are quite enough for relaxation. In addition, due to the fact that the beach smoothly turns into the embankment, visually, the beach strip seems much wider.

The sea water is clean. The beach is also quite clean and well maintained. There is natural debris from palm trees and sea wave, but we did not notice household waste on the beach, it is clear that the beach is regularly cleaned.

For a quieter relaxation and sunbathing, the north side of the beach is more suitable. It is quieter here than in the central part of the beach. Here, at the farthest, northern point of the beach, is the 4-star Hotel Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach. The hotel is adjacent to the public part of the beach. Casuarin trees give a good coolness, which also act as a source of a pleasant smell.

The central part of the beach has all the necessary beach infrastructure. There is a toilet and shower, as well as some beach and water activities - riding a banana boat and jet ski, parasailing over the sea surface. You can rent a boat or kayak. And for even greater relaxation, order a massage and relax under the gentle and skillful hands of Thai girls.

In search of coolness, you can take advantage of the natural shade emanating from the palm trees that grow along the perimeter of the beach strip, or rent a sun lounger and parasol, of which there are a great many in the central part of the beach. The price is 200 baht per day for two sun loungers and an umbrella.

The southernmost part of the beach is not suitable for a beach holiday, it is a "wilder" place, the coastal area is dirty and boats are crowded.

And thirdly. If you have already forgotten, then, under these points we list the advantages of Kamala Beach)). Thirdly, Kamala does not end on one beach, Kamala can rightfully be called a fully developed provincial town of the same name. An embankment runs along the length of the beach, and in the center of Kamala there are several streets, where an abundance of cafes and restaurants, bars and massage parlors, small shops and retail outlets, as well as exchange offices, hotels and guest houses are concentrated.

A narrow promenade runs along the beach, one part of which is occupied by hotels, therefore it is calmer and more conducive to walking.

In the central part of the beach there are cafes and restaurants, some of which are located right on the beach strip.

Near the embankment, in the central part of Kamala, there is a small green park, which houses a cafe, a playground and a historical monument - Tsunami Memorial Park.

Monument to the victims of the 2004 Tsunami

Moving higher from the park to the center of Kamala, you will certainly come out to the bustling Rim Hat Rd street, along which there are numerous outlets, shops, massage parlors, exchange offices, cafes and restaurants, as well as hotels and guest houses.

Cons of Kamala Beach

For us personally, the only disadvantage of the beach is the rivers flowing into the sea. There are several of them on the beach. These rivers are far from ideal, dirty, but not smelly. However, swimming in the sea, you completely forget about it. In addition, the confluence of "stinking rivers" into the sea on the beach strip is inherent in most of Phuket's beaches.

Entertainment and attractions of Kamala

One of the main and outstanding entertainments of Kamala is carrying out a colorful and large-scale show "Phuket Fantasy". Phuket FantaSea is a whole theme park, in the entertainment performance of which beautiful scenery, many actors and trained animals are involved.

On Fridays, an evening (in Phuket called night) exit market is organized in Kamala. At the market you can buy clothes and souvenirs as well as enjoy Thai cuisine, the dishes of which will be prepared in front of your eyes.

You can also walk to the Temple of Kamala (Wat Kamala). The territory of the temple is quiet and comfortable. And the bright buildings with red tiled roofs and the sculpture of the Buddha are made in the traditional Buddhist style and are unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. The temple is located in the southern part of the beach, near the school.

Where to stay in Kamala

There is a wide variety of accommodations near Kamala Beach, ranging from the most expensive and respectable 5-star resort hotels, and ending with budget hotels and guest houses. All accommodation facilities on Kamala are possible.

How to get to Kamala beach

From the airport by taxi, or you can rent a motorbike or car. Well, or, what is the fastest and easiest, you can order an individual transfer in advance. At any time of the day, at the airport, a driver will be waiting for you with a sign where your name and surname will be written. To order a taxi, it is enough to provide your flight details.

By public transport with a change in Phuket Town.

From Phuket Town

By songteo (local buses) following the Phuket - Bangtao - Surin - Kamala route. Fast, direct, direct. The fare is 40 baht.

From Bangtao and Surin beaches

On a songteo. Or on foot. The road from Surin Beach is close and will take about 30 minutes, passing over the sea and along the cape. From Bang Tao beach further, but walking is quite real.

From other beaches and points of the island, also with a transfer in Phuket town, rented bike or taxi / tuk-tuk.

How we travel cheap!

It is one of the three most popular holiday destinations on the island and is well suited for a relaxing seaside holiday. Its peculiarity is that the coastal route goes to the east and does not separate the beach itself and the residential area. Thanks to this, there are hotels that can really be attributed to the first line. And also this place is much quieter than others, where cars and motorcycles constantly scurry about, filling the air with exhaust and noise. Kamala Beach Bichravnodalen and from, and from, to them about twenty kilometers. The total length of the beach is about one and a half kilometers, and the width of the sand strip is from five to thirty meters.

Conventionally, Kamala Beach in Phuket can be divided into three parts.

  1. South. On the southern side, the strip of sand is no wider than five meters. It is there that there are berths for excursion boats, and therefore the water is rather dirty, and there are no umbrellas or sun loungers on the shore.
  2. Central. Kamala Beach itself begins after turning the road to the east. Geographically, this is the central part of the beach. There are a lot of people all the days, sun loungers and umbrellas stand like soldiers in a parade - in several rows. All types of water activities are available, from bananas and cheesecakes to jet skis and water skis. Cafes and restaurants, as well as massage parlors, are located right along the strip of sand.
  3. North. The northern part of the beach is the quietest, there are not too many tourists there, but they are the guests of the first line hotels. Foreign guests are not driven away, they can also use sun loungers and umbrellas. According to many family tourists, northern Kamala is the best place for relaxation and swimming.

Natural conditions at Kamala Beach

Sprawling palms and casuarins (horsetail plants) grow along the entire coastline on Kamala Beach. Until noon, they cover the sand with a thick shade. During high tides, the strip of sand narrows to several meters, so you can literally plunge into the sea from a running start. The sand itself is grayish; as you move south, more and more small stones appear in it.
