Sharm El Sheikh. The best bays. The best windless bays in Sharm el-Sheikh The most windless bays in Sharm el-Sheikh in winter

Going to Sharm el-Sheikh in winter, one cannot but take into account one very important point that can affect your entire trip. It's about windiness and the right choice of the resort area, where it will be comfortable to rest.

Egypt is geographically divided into bays, each of which has its own name. The most famous, which are most heard by our tourists - Sharks Bay, Naama Bay and Nabq. In addition, there are many more small ones where you can also find good hotels. So - what is the difference and how to choose the best place in Sharm El Sheikh for your vacation?

Nabq

Peculiarities:

Nabq is the northernmost region of Sharm el-Sheikh, located near the Nabq National Reserve, which since 1992 has been included in the Ras Mohammed Reserve. In the reserve, you can see many exotic plants and birds living in the wild.

Hotels:

Nabq is one of the fastest growing areas and there are some of the best hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh - Rixos Seagate, Rixos Sharm-el-Sheikh and Cleopatra Luxury Resort Sharm El Sheikh.

Entertainment:

The promenade in this area is the street La Strada, it houses the La Strada shopping center, Al Khan and Metro, as well as many small shops and souvenir shops.

Beach:

The beaches in Nabq are very gentle and mostly sandy, but ebb and flow are frequent here, so it takes a long time to go to the depth. There is also a coral reef here, you can get to them by piers or pontoons, which are some of the longest on the coast.

During the winter season, there are strong winds in Nabqa Bay, so the beaches may be closed for swimming.

Sharks bay

Peculiarities:

This bay is perhaps one of the most "famous" among our tourists. And this is not surprising at all - beautiful coral reefs and not windy weather in winter attract more and more visitors here all year round. The coral reefs here are really excellent and the fish will pleasantly surprise you

Hotels:

Shark's Bay is home to world-class luxury hotels - Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, Royal Savoy Hotel and Villas, Sunrise Arabian Beach Resort, Sultan Gardens Resort

Entertainment:

Shark's Bay is famous for its walking street Soho Square. Since it got its name from the eponymous London square, much here reminds of Great Britain - pubs, red booths and a British house. Soho Square is more like one big entertainment street with many shops, restaurants, a cinema, a singing fountain and even an ice rink! Prices here are slightly higher than in other areas of Sharm el-Sheikh, and although it is customary to bargain here, prices are not discounted willingly.

Beach:

Shark's Bay is one of the most interesting bays for swimming, as the coral reef is very beautiful and varied. Here you can see large Napoleons, rays and dangerous lionfish, surgeon fish, moray eels. In addition, there are no underwater currents in Sharks Bay, so this is the best place for beginners who want to dive. For experienced divers, night dives are offered, which is also very interesting.

Naama Bay

Peculiarities:

Naama Bay is the oldest, therefore, the most developed and interesting area in terms of infrastructure for tourists, since there are many shops, restaurants, nightclubs, souvenir shops and other entertainment not far from the hotels.

Hotels:

Naama Bay has a variety of hotels of various categories from the popular Maritim Jolie Ville, Hotel Novotel Sharm El-Sheikh to the luxurious Stella Di Mare Beach Hotel & Spa and Movenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh.

Entertainment:

Disco Black House and Le Pasha are two of the best in Sharm El Sheikh. This is where the most beautiful girls come to hang out. The best view of the bay opens from the windows of the popular Panorama restaurant, where you can spend magical evenings with live music. If you want to eat well and hearty food, then another legendary place will be interesting for you - Hard Rock Cafe. If you are planning to go shopping, there is an oriental market behind the Le Pasha nightclub, where prices are very pleasant, and you can bargain until you get tired.

Beach:

Since Naama Bay was built when the resort was founded, they artificially got rid of the coral reef, so most of the hotels have a sandy and shallow entrance to the sea. Hotels in the territory of which corals have been preserved are Marriott, Novotel, Sofitel, Hilton Fayrous.

Ras Um El Sid

Peculiarities:

Ras Um el-Sid bay is located between the bays of Naama Bay and Sharm el-Maya. The peculiarity of this bay is that most of the beaches are rocky and cascading. To go down to the sea, you need to overcome the steps, and some hotels have solved this issue with an elevator, which takes you down and up to the sea and back.

Hotels:

One of the most popular hotels Reef Oasis Beach Resort 5 * is located in this bay, as well as Dreams Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh 5 *, Otium Hotel Amphoras Sharm 5 *, Jaz Fanara Resort & Residence 4 *, Royal Grand Sharm 5 *, Hilton Sharm Waterfalls 5 * and others.

Entertainment:

Basically, all entertainment here is located on the territory of the hotel. There are only small shops outside the territory. Therefore, most tourists prefer to go for entertainment in Hadaba and Naaba Bay.

Beaches:

The underwater world of this bay is very active and attracts many divers here. But the beaches themselves are very narrow and are located in the rocks. Although, everyone will find a place for himself here, and there are much more opportunities to retire than on ordinary sandy beaches. Beachfront hotels El Faraana Club, Iberotel Club Fanara and Reef Oasis Beach Resort have sandy beaches.

Ras Nasrani

Peculiarities:

This area is located in the north of Sharm el-Sheikh, next to Nabq, but due to the small deepening, the winds are still not so strong here, so if swimming is prohibited in Nabq, but in Ras Nasrani Bay it may be quite acceptable.

Hotels:

Since the bay is small, there are not many hotels, but for different categories of tourists. Respectable Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh, with good infrastructure and food - Coral Sea Sensatori Resort, very green and cozy Jaz Belvedere Resort.

Entertainment:

Just like in the bay Ras Um el Sid, there is practically no entertainment here. All shops and souvenir shops can be found on site.

Beaches:

But the beaches and coral reef of Ras Nasrani are considered the best on the coast. Especially luxurious is located on the beach of the hotel Baron, but in other hotels in this bay you will find beautiful fish and incredible corals. The only drawback of the bay is that the current here can be quite strong.

Sharm El Maya

Ras Nasrani Bay is located near the main airport of Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.

The most beautiful bay amazes the inexperienced viewer with the view of multi-colored corals and a large number of bright fish, which can be observed even without special devices. Ras Nasrani is considered one of the best places in Sharm El Sheikh for those who love to view the underwater world of the Red Sea.

Along the coast of the Red Sea of Ras Nasrani there is a walking path, along which you can walk in the evening, enjoying the view of the night sky with bright stars.

One of the highlights of the bay is the live coral reef near the Baron Hotel, which is impressive for its beauty and the wide variety of fish species that inhabit it.

Ras Um El Sid Bay

Ras Um El Sid Bay with its magnificent coral reefs is a favorite spot for divers. Its name means "mother cape" in Arabic. The famous explorer Jacques Yves Cousteau included these places in the list of the 10 best in the world. Due to the incredible beauty of the underwater world and the huge number of underwater marine inhabitants, the sea in the bay area is of great interest to divers.

The coastline gently slopes down to a depth of about 20 meters from the surface, creating the most comfortable conditions for divers to observe the diverse life of marine life. In some places, the bottom is at great depth, so here you should remember about precautions. There is a wall of beautiful gorgon corals near the bay.

Numerous caves and grottoes hide a wide variety of marine life, in particular moray eels, lionfish, groupers and schools of glass fish. During strong currents, schools of barracuda and tropical horse mackerel can be found near the reef. The magnificent beach is famous for a huge coral pillar that descends 60 meters. Experienced divers regularly dive here at night.

White Knight Cove

In Sharm el-Sheikh there is a small cove with the proud and beautiful name White Knight, which means White Knight. It is well protected from wind and waves, thus attracting much attention from avid divers.

A deep picturesque canyon, starting at a depth of 8-10 meters and going down to a depth of about 40-50 meters with its steep ledges, is the main underwater attraction of the White Knight Bay.

There is one very interesting cave here, located at a depth of 27 meters, but beginners cannot conquer it. Many of the divers follow a route that encompasses the canyon's most striking sights, and then return back to the boat. If you are attracted by underwater sports - visit these places inconspicuously, and you will not regret!

Ras Um El Sid Bay

Ras Um Sid Bay with its magnificent coral reefs is one of the most popular diving spots.

Ras Nazran

Going on vacation to Sharm El Sheikh, it is very important to choose the right area or bay where your hotel will be located, as this may affect the overall impression of your stay in Egypt. And so that this impression does not spoil, I propose to consider in more detail each area of Sharm El Sheikh.

It is difficult to imagine that even some 20 - 30 years ago, this beautiful resort in the south of the Sinai Peninsula was little known. Starting in 1982, by order of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who himself loved to relax in these places, construction of a tourist resort began and by the end of the 80s Sharm el Sheikh gained worldwide popularity. Since the resort began to develop after the ban on coral felling, almost all of the bays of Sharma can boast of a beautiful sheer wall of coral reef almost at the very shore. But still, each of them has its own characteristics. In general, the entire resort is a thirty-kilometer coastline located between the Nabq and Ras Mohammed reserves. So, in order.

Sharm el Sheikh bays

Nabq Bay

Nabq - the most northern, distant and developing part of Sharm. This area is home to the newest hotels with a fairly high level of service. Although the locals call the area Nabq Bay, there is no bay, on the contrary, the coastline is open, so it is always windy here, and often red or black flags hang over the beaches, warning that swimming is not possible. This is especially noticeable in winter (January, February) and I would not recommend choosing hotels for families with children in the Nabq region in winter. But starting from April this area is perfect for families with children, as the beaches here are with a convenient gentle entry into the sea. Truth and ebb - the ebb in Nabq is the most tangible.

This region has the longest coral crust, respectively, here the longest pantones, most often wooden on massive iron piles. During low tide, the coral crust is exposed, but you cannot walk on it without special shoes, as you can get injured. Most of the hotels near the coast have small artificial lagoons where children can splash in the sea during high tides. Due to its openness and constant winds, the Nabq area is a real paradise for kitesurfing lovers.

There is also an entertainment center here - a shopping area La Strada home to La Strada shopping malls, Al Khan, Metro supermarket, fixed prices, McDonalds and many other restaurants and cafes. Many Nabq hotels provide free transfers to La Strada. There is also the Hard Rock Café nightclub, opposite La Strada, so there is plenty to do for young people as well.

Who is it suitable for?

District Nabq Bay perfect for families with children, people who prefer a quiet measured vacation, lovers of kitesurfing, diving. For active youth, this area may be boring due to its remoteness from the center.

Ras - Nasrani

The next bay towards the center of Sharm is Ras Nasrani, is located in the Montazah area, which means “settlement” in Arabic. In addition to hotels, in this area there are so-called compounds, such as El Mare - residential apartments and villas that can be bought, or rent on Airbnb, for example, if you are planning a longer stay in Sharm. Sharm el Sheikh International Airport is also located in the Montaz area, so the transfer to hotels in this bay will be the shortest, which is very important for families with children.

This region, like Nabq, is characterized by winds, but not so strong, and moreover, usually in the first half of the day. The width of the coral crust near the coast is not large enough, therefore the pantones are not long here either. The coral reef in the Ras Nasrani area is in the form of a sheer wall from 5 to 20 meters and is quite lively and beautiful, therefore this area is chosen by fans of diving and snorkeling. Some hotels have small lagoons near the shore where children can swim. The area itself is quite quiet and calm, located at some distance from the main road. There are no special entertainments here, as well as shops or shopping centers. If you want to visit the center Naama Bay either have to or.

Who is it suitable for?

Bay Ras Nasrani more suitable for those who like a quiet holiday away from noisy streets and parties, for families with children, lovers of underwater beauty, for diving and snorkeling. For active youth it will be boring here, and spending every day to get to local entertainment is expensive.

Sharks Bay

Bay Sharks Bay is considered to be the most prestigious area of Sharm. The bay is also close to the airport, so transfers to hotels in the area will be short. It is in this bay that the most beautiful living coral reef, Soho Square entertainment center and popular hotels of world chains are located. Unlike its name, “Shark Bay”, this is a fairly calm bay, even in winter there are no strong winds.

The width of the coral crust near the coast is not large, therefore the pantones in this area are floating, plastic and not long. There are no hotels with a sandy entrance here, you definitely need special footwear. The central street of Sharks Bay is a Europeanized promenade with beautiful shops (where no one will grab you by the hand), restaurants of Chinese, Indian, Egyptian, Japanese cuisine.

There is an ice skating rink, a bowling alley, a singing fountain, a cinema, clubs, bars, an amusement park for children, a stage where our stars and Egyptian pop stars often perform. The Sharks Bay area also includes several small bays: Tiger Bay(or Pasha Bey), on the territory of which the Domina Coral Bay complex is located and Gardens Bay, the coral reef of which is considered the most beautiful on the entire coast of Sharm.

Who is it suitable for?

Bay Sharks Bay suitable for people who prefer high-quality comfortable rest, for lovers of diving and snorkelling, for active youth. Perhaps this is not the best area for children, due to the lack of a gentle entry into the sea, however, hotels compensate for this lack with a developed infrastructure on the territory of the hotels themselves.

Naama Bay

Bay Naama Bay- this is the “heart” of Sharm el Sheikh, the oldest, noisy, partying part of the resort. There are no strong winds here, even during the winter months. At one time, when Israeli warships were still based here, all corals were cut down in the bay, so the entry into the sea is rather gentle and sandy. Sometimes there are small pieces of coral, but they are dead and do not have such beauty as living ones, but fish sometimes come here too. But such a coast is very convenient for families with children.

A feature of hotels in this area is that their territories are quite compact and there is no particular activity in the hotels. But one has only to go to the main promenade of Naama Bay, and here you will find everything: souvenir shops where you can bargain; restaurants, cafes, hookah bars at every step, where to smoke a shisha costs $ 1.

There are discos Hard Rock Café, Little Budha, Le Pacha. There is also the Hollywood entertainment complex, with moving dinosaurs and singing fountains, which children will surely enjoy.

Who is it suitable for?

The bay Naama Bay most often preferred by active youth due to its proximity to many of the resort's attractions. It is also loved by families with children, as the entry into the sea is sandy and gentle, but do not forget that this is a very active bay, there are always many yachts, so it cannot be called particularly clean.

Hadaba (Ras Umm El Sid)

The next area is Hadaba and the bay Ras Umm El Sid it is also the oldest and most residential area of Sharm el Sheikh and is located on a small peninsula. Hadaba means “hill” in translation, and indeed hotels in this area have cascading areas and often descend to the sea by stairs or by elevator. There are many economical hotels on the second and third lines in this area, as well as compounds where you can rent an apartment for a longer period.

There is also its own shopping center Il Mercato, with shops, cafes and restaurants, an entertainment complex "1001 nights" where entertainment shows take place in the evenings.

The coral reef in the Hadaba area is lively and very beautiful, in the form of a sheer wall of 20-50 meters with many caves, so professional divers like to stay in this area. The pontoons in this area are not very long, in some hotels, in addition to the beautiful coral reef, there are small lagoons near the coast, where children can splash.

Who is it suitable for?

District Hadaba suitable for lovers of underwater beauty, diving, snorkelling. Young people will not be bored here either, since in the evenings there is where to go for a walk, and if you wish, go to Naama Bay.

Sharm El Maya

Bay Sharm El Maya the southernmost and windless bay of Sharm el Sheikh, even in the windiest winter months, both children and adults will have a comfortable rest here. As well as in the bay of Naama Bay, there is a bottom cleared of corals and a gentle sandy entry into the sea. So if you go on vacation to Egypt with children or do not swim very well, then you will not find a better bay. There is a marina from which yachts go on excursions to the Ras Mohamed National Reserve.

In this bay is the Old Town or Old Market- a real Egyptian market, where you can buy souvenirs at the lowest prices in all of Sharm, fruits and spices, dine in a Bedouin cafe, smoke a hookah, and generally feel the local flavor. Here you have to bargain, for the Egyptians it is a kind of game and tradition.

Who is it suitable for?

Sharm el Maya bay is suitable for families with children, those who like to shop with the opportunity to bargain and feel all the local flavor. In general, this is a fairly calm bay.

I hope my article helped you decide on the choice of a bay for your vacation in Sharm el Sheikh.

The sandy beaches of Shark Bay are washed by the gentle waters of the Red Sea. And from the coast itself stretches a continuous line of coral reefs, walking along which is extremely undesirable. That is why many beaches are equipped with pontoon bridges that extend beyond the coral plateaus. It is also recommended to go into the water in special shoes.
The systematically flowing life of marine life can be observed at the very shore of the sea. The brave underwater inhabitants of Shark Bay in Sharm el-Sheikh are not afraid of people and, not paying any attention to them, continue their daily worries.
While relaxing on the beaches in this area of Sharm el-Sheikh, you can certainly find something to do with yourself. After an active pastime on the beaches, you can diversify your leisure time by visiting a cafe or restaurant. Carry out a shopping assault on local shops and souvenir shops.
Most of the entertainment venues of Sharm El Sheikh's Shark Bay are concentrated in Soho Square. It looks like a large shopping and entertainment center, located right in the open air. In the center of the square there is a color-musical fountain, which, at nightfall, at regular intervals, pleases guests with small performances.
There is a large glass building in the immediate vicinity of the fountain. Here on the ground floor there is a cinema where you can watch a film about the history of Egypt (and in Russian) or some kind of artistic picture in English. Going up to the second floor, you can go ice skating under the arches of an indoor ice rink. In addition, there is a summer theater on Soho Square: many cozy tables with wicker chairs located near the stage.
