It is known for its gentle entry into the sea, maximum transparency of sea water and imported, strikingly different from the dark volcanic sand that covers the rest of the beaches of Cyprus.

The sandy beach of Nissi Beach is located on the east coast of Cyprus and directly adjoins the resort town of Ayia Napa, to which its territory is sometimes mistakenly referred to. It is about 2 kilometers from the beach itself to the center of Ayia Napa, which makes it possible for tourists to relax near a large settlement without feeling its presence at all.

Why Nissi Beach is so attractive

The quality of sea water, excellent infrastructure and safe conditions for recreation on the Nissi beach are confirmed by an international quality certificate, the presence of which is symbolized by the fluttering on the flagpole “ Blue flag».

A fairly spacious beach stretches for 500 meters of the sea coast and has only its inherent zest. From it in the direction of the small island of Nissi located in the sea, which gave the name to the beach, a sand spit leaves, which is daily flooded at high tide and reveals its unimaginable charm at low tide.

Dangerous depths begin only at a distance of 30-50 meters from the coastline, which allows parents to be calm enough for their children splashing along the coast. The eastern part of Nissi Beach is framed by small cliffs, making it possible to see the sights of the island and the surrounding coast.

Walking along a narrow sandy spit to the uninhabited island of Nissi, tourists get maximum relaxation, and windsurfing, water skiing, sport fishing and many others allows travelers to significantly diversify their vacation.

The level of services offered on the beach is quite high, but at the same time is the most affordable for tourists. Most of the beach services are free of charge, and the use of a shower stall for 1 euro, a sunbed or an umbrella for 2.5 euro per person seriously does not hit the pocket of vacationers.

Several small shops located at the entrance to the beach provide an opportunity to purchase everything you need in order to satisfy your hunger and thirst. A fairly hearty lunch in nearby cafes and eateries costs tourists 7-10 euros, and the main cafe Nissi Beach organizes free foam parties three times a week, gathering young people from everyone.

In the immediate vicinity of the beach itself, there is the first line of luxury hotels with pools and other amenities. Across the road to Ayia Napa, there are less expensive hotels and private apartments in which middle-class travelers rest.

The second closest hotel to the beach is Vassos Nissi Plage Hotel 4 *. It also, like Nissi Beach Resort, has a fairly large territory of its own, swimming pools, entertainment program, buffet.

Beach characteristics

Nissi Beach is located in the eastern part of Nissi Bay, while the western part is occupied by the equally beautiful Nissi Bay. But there is no dividing border between the two beaches, one immediately turns into the other.

The length of the beach is about 600 meters and the width varies from 20 to 40 meters.

Nissi Beach is covered with fine white (imported) sand, pleasant to the touch and comfortable for walking on it even with bare feet. The seabed is also sandy, the water is clear with a turquoise hue. The entry into the water is shallow, the depth increases gradually, and due to being in a bay protected from the wind, there are almost never waves on the beach. All this makes the beach attractive and safe for families with young children.

From the western part of the beach, a sandy isthmus runs into the sea, connecting the coast with a small island. Depending on the tide, the isthmus can either go under water or appear. The island has a gently sloping part and a rocky hill, which fans of extreme sports often use to jump into the sea from a cliff. The island offers an excellent view, many tourists come here at sunrise or sunset to take pictures. Since the surface of the island is rocky, it is better to take shoes with you for walking on it.

The disadvantages of the beach include the appearance of algae in the second half of summer. Beach staff monitor this and constantly clean them with a special network, but this is not enough. In this case, you have to look for areas of the coast where there is the least amount of algae.

As a rule, there are a lot of people on the beach, however, due to its spaciousness, you can usually still find a cozy place to settle down. For those who prefer a more relaxing holiday, it is better to come to Nissi Beach from the very early morning, since after 10:00 - 11:00 the number of people here increases significantly.

Seasonality of rest

The beach season at Nissi Beach officially starts on May 1st and ends on September 30th. However, some tourists come here in the months adjacent to the high season: April or October. At this time, the weather conditions are not so stable - the situation in different years can be very different, this should be taken into account. But there are very few vacationers here during this period.

The peak season is in July and August, when the number of sunny days is maximum (the average air temperature is + 31 ... + 33.4 ° C during the day, + 26.5 ... + 27.2 ° C at night), and the sea water warms up the most - up to + 27 ... + 28 ° C. These two months are the time of the greatest influx of tourists, and first of all those who come to Nissi Beach for entertainment and popular nightlife.

In September, the flow of tourists begins to decline, but the weather is still very favorable for swimming and sunbathing: the average daily value for air is + 30.8 ° C, for water is + 27.2 ° C. Tourists often choose this month for families, including those with children.

  • ample free parking, which allows you to leave your transport near the beach;
  • shops in the immediate vicinity where you can buy the necessary beach equipment and other goods.

In addition, 200 meters from the beach is Nissi Avenue, along which a large number of urban infrastructure is concentrated, including: supermarkets, a shopping center, a car rental, catering establishments offering different types of cuisine, and much more.

During the entire beach season, the coastline of Nissi Beach is under the supervision of a rescue service from 9:00 to 18:00, which ensures the safety of vacationers while swimming. There is also a first-aid post on the beach, where you can contact in case of a need for medical assistance.

Leisure

Nissi Beach offers a wide range of activities for tourists of all ages - from young children to elderly people.

It is worth noting that the Nissi Water Sport water sports center is located not directly on the shore, but near the island, which allows you not to interfere with safe swimming in the beach lagoon. Among the activities offered by the center: jet skiing, "banana" and "tablet", water skiing, catamarans and kayak rentals, diving, parasailing, windsurfing. For young beach goers, there are several water slides of different heights. In addition to entertainment services, the center rents out various swimming accessories (for example, goggles, masks, fins).

Training sessions at the center are conducted by professional instructors who guarantee quality and safety, in several languages, including Russian, English, German, French.

For fans of team games on Nissi Beach there is an equipped beach volleyball court.

Entertainment

A distinctive feature of Nissi Beach is noisy parties. During the high season, loud music on the beach practically does not subside, and entertainment programs go on almost non-stop - from early morning until late at night.

During the day, contests and fun competitions are often held on the shore, in which everyone can take part. As darkness approaches, the Nissi Beach strip turns into an open air dance floor, discos begin in the bars, sometimes with invited DJs. The noisiest parties take place on Nissi Bay every day at the popular Nissi Bay Beach Bar, which can be reached from Nissi Beach along the coast.

Three times a week (on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays), foam parties are held on the beach, which are also popular with vacationers.

Many tourists come to Nissi Beach precisely because of the rich nightlife, the opportunity to relax in noisy companies, and meet new people.

Who Will Love Nissi Beach

The beach is considered the most suitable for youth recreation: there is a lot of entertainment, parties and discos are regularly held. Particularly partying time is July and August, when, according to some tourists, Nissi Beach looks more like a British-Scandinavian country club.

As for tourists, vacationing with families or small children, they can choose the eastern part of the beach, which is calmer than the western one. In addition to the distance from the noisy youth campaigns, the advantage of this part of the beach is the shallower coast: the water here warms up much faster, and it is safer for children to swim.
