St. Petersburg

Why you should go: New Year in St. Petersburg is celebrated on a grand scale. Such lights, fireworks and laser shows cannot be found in the province. Nevsky Prospekt becomes pedestrian, New Year's fairs work, and Palace Square flares up so brightly, as if another revolution has begun there.

The house was built in beautiful forest, attractions also work here, and excursions around the world of Russian fairy tales are organized for children. Of course, there are entertainment programs and New Year's performances. In addition to the estate, you can enjoy the city itself, full of merchant mansions and ancient temples.

Which resort to choose: the most comfortable resort is Sheregesh in the Kemerovo region. There are 10 routes with different levels of altitude. The snow does not stick together, which will especially appeal to freeriders.

Dombay is located in the Caucasus Mountains, on the territory of Karachay-Cherkessia. The local mountain valley is so beautiful that it brings pleasure not only from skiing, but also from the contemplation of neighboring mountains, forests and gorges. The trails here are varied, suitable for skiers of different levels.

It is unlikely that you will pass by the Amber Museum, the exhibits of which will give odds to any New Year's garland.

After walking in the fresh air, we advise you to eat hot homemade sausages and, of course, potatoes. You can go to Belovezhskaya Pushcha - the Belarusian Father Frost lives there, who entertains children as much as he can.

New Year 2020 at sea

Why you need to go: this is a good chance to escape from the winter - to where it is warm.

How is the weather: it is unlikely that you will be able to swim on the Russian coast, but it is quite possible to take a walk in warm and comfortable weather.

Where to rest: the most suitable option is the Crimea, where there are two seas at once - the Black and Azov. Recently, a road bridge was opened here, and now you can get here not only by ferry.

In Crimea, it rarely falls below 0 °C, and local beauties and excursions do not disappear anywhere even in winter. Throughout the peninsula, the New Year is celebrated on the same scale as in the rest of Russia. For example, on the waterfront of Yalta they put up a Christmas tree and dancing fountains, hold concerts and light fireworks.

How is the weather: there may be a slight frost in the region of -10 ° C, but there are also real colds.

You can meet him both traditionally (with a Russian steam room, horseback riding and sleigh rides, playing in the snow and a New Year's banquet), as well as extreme (for example, going to the mountains).

How to have fun: Lenin Square with ice sculptures and slides becomes the center of folk festivals. You can also take a walk along the Mikhailovskaya embankment, where you can slide down the hill right to the bank of the Ob. Of course, the main attractions of Novosibirsk do not disappear on New Year's holidays: the Opera and Ballet Theatre, the planetarium, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and other iconic places.

Karelia

What's up with the weather: There are about as many sunny days as cloudy days. The average temperature is -5 °C. ideal conditions for a New Year's fairy tale: an average of -9 ° C and quite a lot of snow.

10 interesting options where to go for the New Year 2018 in Russia. Where to meet and celebrate the New Year in Russia and how to spend the New Year holidays.

Where to go for the New Year in Russia?

If it is not possible to "overwinter" in hot countries, in the cold season we are warmed only by the thought of the most magical holiday - the New Year. And although the New Year holidays are the perfect time to travel to a foreign coast, most of us prefer to celebrate at home, in snowy Russia, so that there is a Christmas tree, friendly passers-by in red hats and Santa Claus's toy beard, ice slides and sleighs. My opinion is that it is possible to make New Year's Eve special and unusual in our area. For example, it is now fashionable to settle in ski resorts. I bring to your attention a selection of the most suitable places where to celebrate the New Year in Russia, where to go inexpensively.

Where to meet and celebrate the 2018 New Year in Russia?

If you suddenly decide to go on vacation in Russia on a tour, then see the prices below to determine the duration of the trip.

New Year in Moscow

I decided to start from Moscow, because. Every year, tens of thousands of our compatriots flock here in order not to miss the lighting of lanterns and the red star on the main Christmas tree, attend a festive concert on the main square and take pictures at artfully decorated shop windows. The festive fireworks is already a tradition, and here it strikes with its magnificence. Moscow is one of the best places where you can celebrate the New Year in Russia.

Another famous place, where the famous architectural structures and the main sights of the city are located, is the exhibition center of the Ostankino district at VDNKh, namely, Poklonnaya Gora. Fashionable restaurants and family cafes are concentrated here. A romantic, magical atmosphere on a festive night will help create a panoramic view of Moscow. This produces a super-effect on any tourist.

You can meet 2018 in such an unusual way as riding a river boat. Moscow river is not worse than St. Petersburg's Neva. Especially at night.

New Year's Peter

Another beautiful place where you can celebrate the New Year in Russia is St. Petersburg. You can talk endlessly about the most visited places and main sights of St. Petersburg. The cultural capital of Russia in winter resembles pictures from films and TV shows about Russian emperors and palace coups. No wonder that on New Year's Eve, travel agencies offer a great variety of tours to the city on the Neva.

Luxurious squares of St. Petersburg with majestic palaces are probably the most affordable option to celebrate the main holiday of the year to this day. As in Moscow, Palace Square every year they set up a tall Christmas tree, light garlands and organize a magnificent concert.

Peter opens the doors of the most worthy establishments for a celebration on the main square or Nevsky Prospekt. Here are my 3 favorite restaurants: Terrassa, Nebar, Che-Dor.

New Year's Eve in the resort city of Sochi

© infanticida / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

I think a Russian person will like it in Sochi at any time of the year. On New Year's holidays, the city becomes a kind of "piece of summer" in winter. Krasnaya Polyana, for example, attracts tourists with "cool" skiing. The New Year is celebrated here on a grand scale, and therefore Sochi is another option where to go on New Year's holidays in Russia.

Sochi residents also hold festive concerts and celebrate January 1 under the chiming clock in the city square - the South Pier. By the way, not far from the South Pier there are a large number of cafes / bars, where the holiday atmosphere reigns all year round.

Be sure to visit the Olympic Park, which has recently become the most attractive place for Sochi guests. Here is "Fisht", Winter Palace sports "Iceberg", curling center.

Baikal for the New Year

© marcofieber / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

Where you should go in Russia for the New Year holidays is Baikal. I remember this place very fondly. I remember how my heart sank when I first saw the beauty of Baikal - the "pearl of Siberia". In winter, it is no less picturesque.

On New Year's Eve, you can arrange real winter adventures here: dog sledding on ice, fishing, creating ice figures and much more. I assure you that here you will meet many compatriots from different regions - from Moscow to Vladivostok. locals we have long been accustomed to such a "party", therefore the conditions here are the most suitable for an active and unforgettable vacation. In the vicinity of Lake Baikal, there are many hotels, ski resorts where you can stay by booking a room in advance.

If you get bored of admiring the icy Baikal, go to the Small Sea (one of the most touristy parts of Lake Baikal). The Small Sea is separated by the mysterious island of Olkhon. There are many small rocky islands on Baikal, but Olkhon is the largest. The island is endowed with its own legend about shamanic gods and evil spirits.

For example, it was interesting for me to look at the monument to Admiral Kolchak in Irkutsk, because. this is my favorite historical character. And the most fun and large-scale New Year's programs are arranged on the territory of the Taltsy Museum - a complex of architectural structures-expositions.

You need to know, if you want to get to Baikal, then you will need to get to Irkutsk. It is from here that the most convenient routes to any point of Baikal.

Well, where else to go on New Year's holidays in Russia?

New Year's Vladivostok

Far, you say? In fact, the region, which is actively being built and developing now, has begun to attract more and more foreign tourists as well. Asians arrive here and stop in the Primorsky capital not only as a “transit”. Just imagine what beauty is around - the sea, modern high-rise buildings and architecture of the 19th century. In winter, it is even warmer here than in many cities of Russia, where you can relax on New Year's Eve.

On the night of 31 Dec. as of 1 Jan. on the main city square - pl. Fighters for the power of the Soviets, where the "White House" is located, do not push through. Loud music, fireworks, Santa Clauses with Snow Maidens, performances of city talents, etc.

In Vladivostok and its environs there are many comfortable and inexpensive camp sites overlooking the sea bay. Particularly extreme Primorye people like to arrange trips to the taiga on New Year's holidays (some with hunting, some with fishing, and some just breathe in the forest air and warm themselves by the fire with a guitar).

By the way, Pakkaine has his own house and you can visit him with your child. The main city event on New Year's Eve takes place on the central square of the capital of Karelia.

To get to know Karelia better, I advise you to take a tour of historical places, look into the marble quarry in the Ruskeala park (a cultural heritage site).

Journey to Altai for the New Year

Another snowy option where to go to NG in Russia, which will certainly interest fans of winter sports. Altai region- land of majestic mountains. Here are the most elite ski resorts and sanatoriums. You can immediately kill two birds with one stone - run in ski slopes and improve your health. In addition, excellent “matinees” are also held in sanatorium institutions.

For example, the resort town of Belokurikha is in demand among tourists who leave only positive reviews. Swim in the hot springs of nitrogen-radon waters (this is the visiting card of the resort). Belokurikha itself cannot boast of numerous sights, so you need to go here purposefully for "skiing". Adherents of trekking (hiking in the mountains) will appreciate the mountainous terrain of Tserkovka.

On New Year's Eve, you can stay somewhere in the Katun sanatorium (you can think of entertainment yourself). Take the children to the water park "Belovodie" - you can spend the whole day here!

Ski complex Sheregesh, located in the small town of the same name. locality in Siberia is a great place to spend New Year holidays in Russia. It is called "native Courchevel". It is here that over a million active and more or less wealthy tourists come. Weather? That's where it will always snow on New Year's Eve!

If you only dream of becoming a professional skier, here you will have a great opportunity to learn yourself and your children. There are advanced and training tracks. In our country, these are almost the highest ski hills - the total height is more than 35 thousand meters. On the territory of the resort there are a lot of hotels, cottages to accommodate guests. Colorful festivals are held here throughout the year. I think New Year's Eve will be no less fun.

New Year in European style in Kaliningrad

When you get to Kaliningrad, you get to Europe. In Russia… It seems to me that this is the most unusual city in our country. Kaliningrad still harbors an atmosphere of something "foreign": buildings, clean streets, signs and inscriptions in German.

By the way, New Year's Eve under the chiming clock is unlikely to be met on the main city square. Here, they even invented their own traditions! Citizens usually spend the Old New Year and spend New Year's Eve in a narrow family circle - at home. But on January 1, all day long, music, fireworks are heard on Victory Square, festive concerts and fairs are held.

During this period, it is not too frosty in Kaliningrad (compared to how it is with us at the end of March-April up to 5+). It’s not snowfall here, but heavy rains with strong winds.

I would like to sum up. Wherever you go to celebrate the New Year 2018, in Russia you will feel a special Russian New Year's atmosphere everywhere: champagne, Christmas tree, Russian salad, “black bread, herring” and smiling passers-by as never before. Let's go to hot countries for the New Year holidays!

You always want to celebrate the New Year in some unusual way, so that the celebration brings maximum positive emotions and is remembered for a long time. Many advise to meet the chimes abroad, but in Russia there are plenty of places that will give a real New Year's fairy tale.

Among domestic tourist destinations, there are options for extreme sports lovers, and for those who are going to celebrate a celebration with children.

If you are already interested where to celebrate New Year 2018 in Russia, then our selection is just for you.

Moscow: the main Christmas tree of the country

Meeting the New Year in the capital is a classic option, choosing which you definitely won’t go wrong. Every year, the most beautiful Christmas tree in the country is erected on Red Square in Moscow, and festive fairs, concerts, competitions and all kinds of entertainment for those present are held near it. Fun reigns in every metropolitan square, so wherever you go, you definitely won’t be bored.

If street festivities do not attract you, then New Year 2018 can be met in one of the many restaurants, theaters or nightclubs.

You can also attend festive performances for adults and children, and there is plenty to choose from: in Moscow, Christmas trees are traditionally held on ice, in water, in the circus, etc.

St. Petersburg

It is impossible to ignore the northern capital of Russia. St. Petersburg is famous for its special atmosphere at any time of the year, but before the winter holidays it becomes really fabulously beautiful here. You can celebrate the New Year 2018 in the city center, enjoying a laser show and performances by artists.

Grandiose fireworks await you on Vasilyevsky Island, as well as fairs and a meeting with fairy-tale heroes. Various competitions are traditionally held on Palace Square, for example, for the most massive round dance.

You can celebrate a holiday in St. Petersburg, as well as in Moscow, in a theater, a cozy restaurant or a hotel. In addition, New Year's balls are held in the city, where you can feel like a real aristocrat. If you are planning to celebrate the New Year with children, then festive performances with the participation of your favorite cartoon characters are waiting for you.

Veliky Ustyug

Veliky Ustyug, which houses the official Russian residence of Father Frost, is becoming an increasingly popular place to celebrate the New Year every year. Tourists from all over the country come here, and not only families with children, but also just people who want to plunge into a fairy tale for a few days. Here you will visit the magical tower of Santa Claus, the Trail of fairy tales and many more interesting places.

No one will be bored here, because in addition to walking around the magical monastery, you can ride reindeer or horse teams, send a letter to Santa Claus, take part in traditional Russian fun and just have a great time.

Not far from the residence of the main winter wizard there are comfortable cottages for tourists, restaurants, bars, cozy cafes. All establishments offer a delicious menu and entertainment programs.

Baikal

Meeting the New Year 2018 on Baikal will be an unforgettable event. Here, tourists can expect a variety of entertainment and the main pride of Siberia - incredible natural beauty. Lake Baikal is the deepest on the planet and one of the cleanest. It attracts tourists not only with beautiful landscapes, but also with developed infrastructure and many interesting entertainments.

On Baikal you can take part in extreme trips through the forest in jeeps or quad bikes, exciting winter fishing, skiing or sleigh rides, hiking to interesting sights. Here they offer both traditional Russian fun and quite familiar options for celebrating the New Year.

Absolutely everyone will like a trip to Baikal, because even if you do not like extreme sports, you will definitely not be left indifferent by the greatness of nature.

Kamchatka

Another way to unusually meet the New is to go to Kamchatka. It is here that the New Year's chimes are the first to strike, and if you try, you can make a wish twice: according to local time and in your own way. The main thing that awaits tourists in Kamchatka is a very beautiful nature, which is not found anywhere else in the country. Here you can visit unique places, see the Valley of Geysers, volcanoes and watch bears.

Among the most popular entertainments is swimming in geothermal springs. Being in hot water under a frosty sky surrounded by snow-covered trees brings an unforgettable experience. In addition, it is in Kamchatka that you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious red caviar, red fish and other delicacies.

Golden ring

If you are interested in the history of Russia and love ancient architecture, then a trip to the cities of the Golden Ring for the New Year will be an excellent option. As part of the trip, you will visit Murom, Yaroslavl, Suzdal, Vladimir and others interesting places. Every day will be full of new impressions, because you will see a wide variety of ancient monuments, some of which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

But the Golden Ring is not only excursions and stories about historical places. In each city, traditional Russian festivities, horse-drawn sleigh rides, participation in banquets with delicious dishes and many more entertainments are waiting for you. Such a trip will allow you to see a lot of interesting things in a short time and have a great time.

Krasnaya Polyana

Ski resorts in Sochi have always been very popular, but after the Olympic Games, the level of recreation here has become an order of magnitude higher. Here you are waiting ski slopes world-class, comfortable hotels and restaurants. All hotels offer festive programs, and on the main Rosa Khutor square, tourists can enjoy street festivities.

The main entertainment here is skiing and snowboarding, but lovers of a more relaxing holiday will find something to their liking. So, in Sochi you can participate in interesting excursions, stroll through the picturesque surroundings, relax in one of the spas. Local restaurants will surprise you not only with European cuisine, but also with delicious Caucasian dishes.

Kazan

Kazan is a very ancient and beautiful city, which is also called the third capital of Russia. Here, among historical monuments and beautiful architecture, it is very interesting to celebrate the New Year 2018. Every year Kazan prepares for the arrival of tourists and offers fun street festivities, festive events and a lot of entertainment.
